There are several species of capuchin monkeys (they are New World Monkeys of the Genus Cebus).
Of these, most have a conservation status of 'Least Concern'.
The black capuchin (Cebus nigritus) is 'Near Threatened'.
The golden-bellied capuchin (Cebus xanthosternos), Kaapori capuchin (Cebus kaapori) and the blond capuchin (Cebus flavius) are classified as critically endangered.
