Biography

A blonde comedy actress who often played femme fatales, Cecile Arnold (née Arnoux) had been in the Ziegfeld Follies prior to joining the Keystone comedy factory in Edendale, CA, in 1914. She is of course best remembered for her appearances opposite Charles Chaplin in such farces as Dough and Dynamite and His New Profession (both 1914) but also paid her dues in Sydney Chaplin's Gussie comedies and opposite Mack Swain's Ambrose. She left film to marry a banker and relocated to the Far East. According to a sister, Arnold died in Hong Kong from an especially violent form of influenza. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
