At Cerritos College the minority is the majority. A public community college in southeastern Los Angeles County, Cerritos College's student body consists mainly of Hispanics, Asians, African-Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans whom together account for more than 60% of its enrollment. The school offers degrees and certificates in more than 200 areas of study in nine divisions, including business education, fine arts, liberal arts, and technology. Its enrollment has surpassed 26,000 students; its have some 900 full- and part-time faculty members. Cerritos College was founded in 1955.

Cerritos College is a public comprehensive community college founded in 1955 located in Norwalk, California. It was named after Rancho Los Cerritos, a ranch that served prominently in the region in the 19th century. The college serves as part of the inspiration for the renaming of the neighboring city of Dairy Valley to Cerritos.

The college offers degrees and certificates in 87 areas of study in nine divisions. There is also a student-run radio station, WPMD. It also providees a student-run newspaper, Talon Marks. The majority of students are of latino descent.

Academics

Cerritos College is a two-year institution that offers Associate’s degrees and various certificates. Students may elect to earn an AA or transfer credit, which can generally be applied toward the University of California and California State University systems. The College also offers high school students the opportunity to take classes through the Vesey Program. Students in the program may apply to take classes in the summer and during the regular school year. Credits earned in such a way can be transferred to UC and Cal State universities later on.

Athletics

The mascot of Cerritos is the Falcon. Its teams compete in the South Coast Conference. Men’s sports titles have included 2 titles in Soccer, one each in Water Polo, Swimming, and Diving, 7 in Wrestling, 11 in Basketball and Baseball, and 6 in Tennis.

Women's titles include 2 titles each in Cross Country and Track and Field, 8 each in Volleyball and Basketball, 3 in Softball, and 4 in Tennis.
