Chartist is a bi-monthly democratic socialist magazine published in Britain since the 1970s.

Its editorial policy is firmly on the what was once termed the soft left of the Labour Party, supporting such causes as the Grass Roots Alliance slate in NEC elections and the 'Save The Labour Party' initiative.

However, its readership is drawn across the wings of the party as many of the topics written about in the magazine, such as electoral reform, have no left/right divide.

It defines its policy as "to promote debate amongst people active in radical politics about the contemporary relevance of democratic socialism across the spectrum of politics, economics, science, philosophy, art, interpersonal relations – in short, the whole realm of social life."

The magazine's editor is Mike Davis and producer is David Floyd.

Also on its Editorial Board are Paul Anderson, Anna Bluston, Duncan Bowie, Peter Chalk, Martin Cook, Don Flynn, Roger Gillham, Peter Kenyon (Treasurer), Gerard Killoran, Peter Latham, Frank Lee, Charmain Moran, John Morgan, Nick Parrott, Pete Smith, Rosamund Stock, John Sunderland and Chris Wearmouth.

Other regular writers include Ann Black, Bernard Crick and Denis MacShane.
