A V-shaped, triangular, erosional microform, characteristically developed on the shallow flanks of cuestas in arid zones, such as the Aures Mountains of Algeria. They form as surface water, flowing downslope, becomes concentrated into a number of major channels.

Motif comprising a series of connected W-shapes. Often used in the decoration of pottery and metalwork.

A basic element of the enlisted rank structure. Until the late 19th Century chevrons were worn in the European tradition with the point facing down. Now the normal position for a chevron in the United States military is with the point up.
