Superb musicianship and an affinity for high-energy songs have placed Chris Wood & Andy Cutting among England's premier folk musicians. FolkRoots claimed that "everything they touch sounds wonderful," Dirty Linen said "their obvious passion for the music, as well as their dedication to their musicianship, elevates them above most others in their genre." Diatonic button accordion (melodeon) player Cutting continues to balance his involvement with the duo with work as a highly respected session player. His resumé includes recording dates with stellar British folk artists such as June Tabor and Kate Rusby, and British bands, including Tanteeka and Blowzabella. Initially inspired by English church music, Wood is equally versed in the traditional music of Quebec and France. He also plays with the Chris Wood Trio, featuring violinist Anne Wood and cellist Nick Cooper. Wood and Cutting occasionally perform with the Two Duo Quartet, a group they share with accordion player Karen Tweed and guitarist Ian Carr. Since 1997, Wood has also played with an acoustic trio he shares with influential guitarist/vocalist Martin Carthy and guitarist/fiddler Roger Wilson. Their debut album, Wood Wilson Carthy, was released in 1998. Together with Carthy, Wilson, Tweed, and Jean Francois Vrod, Wood and Cutting own and operate the RUF record label. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
