It's fitting that Winnipeg's Eyeball Hurt and the Medicine recorded a Christmas album, because every single Eyeball Hurt release is a bit like Christmas -- you just never know what special gifts you're going to get in the package (one copy of the album came with candy and an "Action Play Set" wrapped in robot wrapping paper). The thing is, if you tried to play this album for your kids at Christmas, you'd probably make them cry. That is, unless your kids were as bent as Drue Langlois and Michael Dumontier, who think that good seasonly songs are about finding beans from all around the world in your Christmas stocking, or feeling sick when drinking eggnog. The music is just as strange, lo-fi and off-kilter. The whole thing runs about 20 minutes, which is probably the perfect length for any Christmas album, either pro or con. The perfect gift for those on your list who are conflicted about the holidays. ~ Sean Carruthers, Rovi
