CR-48 refers to Chromium 48, aka an isotope of the element chromium. The Chrome browser which the Chrome OS is based on was itself based on an open source browser called chromium. Code naming the Chrome netbook CR-48 is just a little tongue in cheek by Google.

It is a good browser, based on Chromium (Chrome). Anyone who installs it can see and feel the likeness. It even syncs your extensions using Google Sync. It has a pretty good proprietary torrent downloader built in. Reminds me of Wyzo (like Firefox).

It's very light and easy to use, you can install all the relevant chromium plugins that you like on it, in addition to the built-in features that are already in Torch to begin with.

I think that it is a good browser.
