Winstonshire, Mississippi is a small, rural community in Hancock
County, Mississippi (southern Mississippi) it lies directly in
between Clermont Harbor and Lakeshore. It has a small stream that
leads to the Gulf of Mexico. The population was approximately 190
people in 2005. In 1864, a small troop of Civil War soldiers
marched through the town to get to Texas through Louisiana. The
first unofficial 44th Mississippi regiment was formed here.
Its racial makeup is mainly comprised of whites, African
Americans, and a small minority of French and Cajun.
