Clothra

Clothru
[Irish, famous (?); clapper (?)]

One of the four daughters of Eochaid Feidlech whose siblings included Medb, queen of Connacht, Eithne (5), and Mugain (2), all of whom were married to Conchobar at different times, and their brothers Finn Emna (the three Finns of Emain). She is the mother of the warrior Lugaid Riab nDerg by the three Finn Emna, and of Furbaide Ferbend. Later she commits a second incest with the incestuously begotten Lugaid to produce Crimthann Nia Náir. Her murder, while pregnant, by her sister Medb is avenged by her son Furbaide. Although thought to be an immoral woman by Christian standards, incest only one of her sins, her name is cited in many genealogies, including that of St Declan.
