The code for sustainable homes covers nine components energy/CO2, water, materials, surface water runoff, waste, pollution, health, management and ecology. It ranks these components on a scale of 1 to 6 in order to specify how well the home fits the policy. This score governs whether the council is allowed to permit the construction of the home.
