NASA is reaching plans to develop a permanent colony on our moon, Luna. Some Astronomers plan to colonize Mars, but there are a number of reasons that the Moon is the best place to start space colonization, but the basis of most of them are its proximity to the Earth. Most of these stem from the lower cost of access to the Moon. There are also important engineering, economic and political advantages to starting colonization with the Moon. So humans will most likely inhabit Luna before any other planet or moon.

The only other planet in our Solar System that is a good candidate for colonization is Mars. Callisto, which is a moon of Jupiter, and Titan, which is a moon of Saturn, both have an atmosphere, but are considered less seriously because of the temperature problem. Mars is the only planet under consideration.
