The band Lacuna Coil is an Italian gothic metal band formed in Milan,Italy 1994. Formely of the names Sleep of Right and Ethereal.

The band put out one demo in 1996 called Ethereal and was soon after signed up to Century Media.Following being signed up soon found the name Ethereal was already tooken and thus changed their name to Lacuna Coil which in Italian means empty soul.Following they put out a self-titled ep Lacuna Coil(1998). Afterwards they released their debut CD In A Reverie(1999) but did not achive much fame. They put out another ep entitled Halflife(2000) follow by their second CD Unleashed Memories(2001) but still did not acheived fame.In 2002 with the third ablum Comalies(2002) they acheved some world fame but not much until Karmacode(2006) where they finally went places such as Japan.
