The Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design is a postgraduate school and consultancy based in Copenhagen which focuses on the area of Interaction Design, and is a recognised leader in the field. It was launched in 2007[1] and recently completed it's Pilot Year programme in an attempt to establish a full-time 2 year Masters course in the field[2]. The Pilot Year has been awarded financial funding by The Enterprise and Construction Authority (EBST), the Danish Ministry of Culture , Novo Nordisk and the JL Foundation[3]. Now in its second year, the new batch of students are participating in the Interaction Design Programme 2009/2010.
The school is currently based in the Danish Design School and is a partnership between the two institutions. The course is headed by Simona Maschi and it's board & faculty includes people such as Gillian Crampton-Smith, Bill Moggridge (co-founder of IDEO) and Bill Verplank.
The business side of CIID undertakes design, research and consultancy in the fields of education, research, interaction design, product design and service design.
Many of the CIID faculty have been involved in (the now defunct) Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, Royal College of Art's Interaction Design course and the ITP course in NYU.
