CREST syndrome is a particular form of a condition called
scleroderma. CREST actually stands for the cardinal signs and
symptoms associated with the condition:
* Calcinosis (calcium deposits in the hands, particularly)
* Raynaud's phenomenon
* Esophageal dysmotility (difficulty/pain swallowing)
* Sclerodactly (tightness of skin around the fingers and
hands)
* Telangiectasias (also called spider veins)
A very nice write up of the condition is available from
eMedicine; see the related links section of this answer.
