If you've been told to go on a "low residue (i.e low fibre) diet", then eating cruciferous vegetables isn't a great idea. (Too healthy. Ironic really...) It's fine to do so when you reach the high fibre diet stage.

Cruciferous vegetables (krew-SIH-fer-uhs): Technical title for a group of vegetables that research has proven may provide aid from certain cancers. Cruciferous vegetables contain antioxidants (beta carotene and the compound sulforaphane). These vegetables, which are high in fiber, vitamins and minerals, are: broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, chard, kale, mustard greens, rutabagas and turnips.
