Game Description

So, you've mastered Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 and feel you're ready for the big test -- a test that will challenge you to put all of your skills on the line as you plot your approaches and fly your aircraft into some of the world's most Dangerous Airports. The 10 airports in this collection are each surrounded by dangerous terrain, unique approach conditions or daunting accessibility.

Land at Iceland's Akureyri Airport (canyons), Aspen, Colorado's Aspen-Pitkin County/Sardy Field (high altitude and steep narrow valley) or try your skills at Guatemala's La Aurora International Airport. Its high precipitation, low ceilings, persistent haze, surrounding mountain peaks and tall man-made structures within a mile of the airport pose a challenge for even the most skilled pilots.

Seven other locales provide challenges such as the Alps surrounding the Innsbruck Aerodrome, the great altitude variations of Nepal, the unmarked high terrain around Alaska's Kodiak Airport and Berlin's crowded and obstructed runways. Try your hand at negotiating the steep descents required at Unalaska Airport in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, test your mettle in extreme temperatures and the narrow strips on the fjord at Greenland's west coast or Portugal's Funchal Airport surrounded by high terrain and a runway on stilts!

Dangerous Airports includes several situational scenarios for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 that replicate conditions that make landings at these airports so difficult. Just some of the adverse conditions include strong winds, mechanical failure, foul weather, encroaching buildings and hidden runways.

Four aircraft are offered in the package including the Avions de Transport Regional ATR 42 (twin turbo-prop), the Cessna Citation and Model 421 Golden Eagle and the single-engine Short Take-off and Landing STOL utility transport De Havilland Beaver for water and snow landings. ~ Michael L.
