The game presents a slightly angled top-down perspective and play moves up and down the turf, with the goals at the top and the bottom. The proportionately accurate fields are about five screens high, with differently colored rectangles of grass that help give a sense of distance. The action is fast paced, requiring accurate passing and good teamwork.

David Beckham Soccer features over 200 international and club teams. Player names appear at the bottom of the screen when they control the ball. Different game modes allow play through a variety of tournaments and seasons, as well as quick Friendly matches.
