David Ziegler

David Ziegler (1748–September 1811) was the first mayor of Cincinnati.

He was born in Heidelberg, Germany and in 1775 migrated to Pennsylvania after having served with reputation in the Army of Russia. As a Hessian Officer, he commanded the 1st Pennsylvania Infantry in the Revolutionary War. Later he became an Aide to president George Washington. Ziegler Park, Sycamore Street between 13th & 14th Streets is named after him by Over-the-Rhine Germans.

He is buried at the Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA.
