Biography

Southern rap group Dem Franchize Boyz includes members Gerald "Buddie" Tiller, Bernard "Jizzal Man" Leverette, Maurice "Parlae" Gleaton, and Jamall "Pimpin" Willingham. After a period spent pushing low-key releases and mixtapes, the Atlanta-based group was picked up by Universal and released a self-titled album in September of 2004, preceded by "White Tee" -- a regional smash that received nationwide exposure on BET. When Jermaine Dupri and his So So Def label moved from Arista to Virgin (Dupri had been appointed president of Virgin's urban division), one of his first acquisitions was DFB, who soon scored a number one R&B hit with a remix of the first album's "Oh I Think Dey Like Me" (retitled "I Think They Like Me," with guest appearances from Dupri, Bow Wow, and Da Brat). This set the stage for the Top Ten album On Top of Our Game, released in early 2006. Follow-up single "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" made it known that they were leaders in the "snap music" movement (Ying Yang Twins' "Wait," David Banner's "Play," and D4L's "Laffy Taffy"). A screwed-and-chopped version of the album was released soon after. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

Dem Franchize Boyz are an American hip hop group from Atlanta signed to So So Def Records. The group comprises four members: Gerald Tiller (a.k.a. Buddie, born 1983), Maurice Gleaton (a.k.a. Parlae, born 1983), Jamal Willingham (a.k.a. Pimpin, born 1984), and Bernard Leverette (a.k.a. Jizzal Man, born 1983). They debuted with the poverty-stricken urban anthem "White Tee" and have more recently appreciated radio airplay with their singles "Oh, I Think They Like Me" and "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It", from the album On Top of Our Game. They are considered by some to be pioneers in the new hip-hop subgenre of snap music. Recently, they were featured on the newest installment to the Now That's What I Call Music!, Volume 21 with their hit song, "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It." They have managed to get considerable press upon the release of On Top Of Our Game.

They collaborated with Korn to produce a mash-up of "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" and "Coming Undone" called "Coming Undone (Wit It)." They are also featured in Monica's new single "Everytime Tha Beat Drop".

In recent months the group along with snap group D4L has come under major scrutiny because of the "Hip Hop Is Dead" movement. They have answered back with the diss song "We Fuckin Up Hip Hop". Jizzal Man and Parlae both feature on Unk's album Beat'n Down Yo Block.

In April 2007, group member Parlae was arrested in a drugs bust in Atlanta. At the scene police found more than $160,000 in cash, hand guns and 11 pounds of marijuana.

Earlier this month a solo track by Parlae titled "I Whip Yae" featuring Lil Wayne was released. Whether a solo album by the member is expected or not is still unclear.
