Founded in 1920, the group was the focus for the avant-garde of the new Czechoslovak Republic after 1918, and embraced International Modernism. It promoted work by Josef Chochol, Jaromír Krejcar, and Karel Teige, evolved close relations with German and Austrian Modernists, and promoted ideas from the Soviet Union.
