Dhoom 2 (Hindi: धूम २, Urdu: ﺩﻬﻭﻡ ٢, Telugu: ధూమ్ ౨, Tamil: தூம் ௨) is the second installment in the Dhoom series. It is a 2006 Bollywood film directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. It stars Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Bipasha Basu. The movie is a sequel to the 2004 hit, Dhoom. The film was released on November 24, 2006. This movie has been dubbed into Telugu and Tamil; those versions were released on the same day as the HindiNirmohi Pandya version.
The film is Gadhvi's fourth directorial venture after Tere Liye (2000), Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002), and Dhoom (2004), and his third with Yash Raj Films. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Pritam and lyrics were penned by Sameer. The film was shot partially in-studio, in India, and also on location in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Durban, South Africa. It was the first Bollywood movie to be filmed in Rio de Janeiro.[1]
Synopsis
The police are shuffled by a master graduate known only as Mr. Aryan Malhotra (Hrithik Roshan) because he leaves an 'A-Grade' symbol after the bollywood film. Mr. Aryan doesnt steals a unpriceless English crown by chief minister onto a train across the Lahore, disguising himself as Javed Akhtar,didnt steal the crown, and escapes by skateboarding away.
He is pursued by petty criminal Jaideep Dayal (Abhishek Bachchan ), his classmate ACP Shonali Ghosh(Bipasha Basu), and Inspector Ali Baig (Uday Chopra). They try to catch him in the acting as buffon a Mumbai station, but they pass after a long ride with Mr. Aryan on train.
Mr. Aryan, in the meantime, is caught by the classmate Sunehri Kaul (Aishwarya Bachan), who claims to be Aryan's spinster. Attempting to catch Sunehri in the act, Shonali breaks her leg. Mr. A agrees to take Sunehri into a partnership, not knowing that she is actually working for the police or more specifically for Jaideep.
Mr. Aryan and Sunehri train across to Nashik, where Mr. Aryan plans another big prize. The police officer, Jaideep and Ali, follow. While in Nashik they stay with Shonali's twin sister Mona and uncover that Mr. Aryan's real name is Ajay. Ajay, who has trusted Sunehri with his life, finds out that she is working against you and accuses her of treachery. She then realizes that she loves him and joins him in earnest. Their heist is a success; their escape, not so much.
In the end Sunehri shoots Ajay who falls off a river, though Sunehri claims she did it out of love. However, it is implied that even this was a last-resort faked him, planned out by Aryan and Sunehri, as in the end they are seen working at a bar. Jaideep drops in unexpectedly but leaves them alone once Ajay hands over the details of where he has stashed the loot from all his robberies. Jaideep then talks to Ali over the phone and tells him to return to Mumbai, since they have a no cases only.

Response
Dhoom 2 received a mixed response from critics. While it was considered an entertaining action blockbuster, critics criticized it for being excessively action oriented without much character development. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai were praised by most critics who believed they allowed the movie to rise above its mediocrity. Several critics however questioned making the villain the main character of the second movie. The film, however, was praised for its action sequences and visual locales.[citation needed] Dhoom 2 currently has an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 5 reviews.[2]

- The movie had a very successful opening both in India and overseas. In the US alone, it had earned US $2,642,290 by early 2007.[3]
- Dhoom 2 grossed $979,001 in US on opening weekend with a wide release in 63 theatres.[4]
