Swayze was born in Houston, Texas, the son of Patricia "Patsy" Yvonne Helen (née Karnes; born 1927), a choreographer, dance instructor, and dancer, and Jesse Wayne Swayze (1925-1982), an engineering drafter.[1]
He was a dancer in the 1980 movie Urban Cowboy. He played "Rudy" in the 1993 low-budget film Eye of the Stranger, but is best known for his television work. He appeared as a mentally handicapped man suspected of murder in an episode of Matlock, as well as a rough edged man in an episode of Murder She Wrote, as well as dozens of other TV appearances. He made several appearances on the HBO drama Carnivàle. He gained particular acclaim for his role in The Cutting Edge 2. He appeared on Cold Case [2] playing an adult Grant Hall, who was an aspiring Olympic wrestler as a boy and whose brother went missing. Swayze starred as the famous Alamo courier James Bonham in "Alamo...Price of Freedom", an IMAX film shown in San Antonio, Texas. [3] He also starred in the Criminal Minds episodes The Big Game and Revelations, as Charles Hankel, the father and alternate personality of serial killer Tobias Hankel.[4]
Swayze has a daughter Danielle (born 1988) by his ex-wife Marcia.[5]
