Biography

Dorman delivers a sweetly tainted songcraft with an intellect similar to the likes of Neil Finn and Syd Straw. Todd Dorman (guitar/vocals), Thane Sheetz (bass), Sean Dolan (drums), and Elise Kuder (violin/organ) were all seasoned and well-educated musicians when Dorman came together in a church basement in late 1999. Gritty, literate, and bittersweet, Dorman compose something healthy for new millennium rock music. When I Come to You, the band's first album, was issued in 2002. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi

Dorman (or Dohrman) is a surname originating in both England and Germany, with the spelling of Döhrmann more common in the latter; but largely found in Austria, the United States, Canada, Australia, Ukraine, Jamaica and France. The surname "Dorman" also derives from Middle English. The Middle English word dere, or deor, meant wild animal. Therefore, Dorman translates as wild animal, or, perhaps, wild animal-man. Another, Old English, derivation is from the Old English word deor, meaning dear, and, of course, mann, meaning man: thus, Dear Man.
