The Silence of the Lambs was released in 1991 and was nominated for seven Oscars at the 1992 Academy Awards held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. The film won five Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director - Jonathan Demme, Best Actor in a Leading Role - Anthony Hopkins, Best Actress in a Leading Role - Jodie Foster, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The two nominations that did not win gold were: Best Sound and Best Film Editing.
