There are a number of different opinions as to which is the
smallest city in the world.
Some people judge the answer to be the city which is smallest by
area, while others think that smallest by population is what is the
deciding factor.
Even the definition of the word "city" can vary widely between
different countries in the world and what some would regard as a
city can be a town or even a village to someone else!
So, what follows are some suggestions:
The usually accepted smallest city in the world is the Vatican
City, which is in Rome, Italy
In the USA and Canada there are some very small communities (200
people or so) with the word 'city' in their title.
Ferdania (in Saudi Arabia) has one police station, one school,
one market, one gas station, one health center, and about 10
houses. It can be called the world's smallest city. See Links for a

Maza, North Dakota had a population of five according to the
2000 census.
Durbuy, is the smallest city in the world.
Hum in Croatia is smallest
Greenhorn, Oregon is the smallest city in the world 2000
population: 0
Climax, Texas is also apparently seen as a city and has a
population of 0.
Greenwood, Canada has a population of 656
Hum, Croatia has a recorded official population of 24
Kozarac, Bosnia and Hercegovina is seen by some as the biggest
little city in the world
Sólheimar in Iceland has a population of 10
Lost Springs in Wyoming, Erving Location, VT , and Sellers, S.C.
seem to be other contenders for the smallest city in the world
