Edmund Alpheus Gehan

(1931–  ; b. Brooklyn, NY) American biostatistician specializing in applications to cancer research. Gehan obtained his BA in mathematics at Manhattan College, New York, before moving to North Carolina State U where he obtained his MS in experimental statistics in 1953 and his PhD in experimental statistics and public health in 1957. In 1987 he was President of the ISCB. In 1994 he was appointed Director of Biostatistics at the Georgetown U Medical Center in Washington.
