Eleatic School

Eleatic School, Greek philosophical school of thought originated by Parmenides of Elea at the end of the sixth century BC. Parmenides believed that ‘what exists’, the essential matter of the universe, is single, indivisible, and unchanging, and this monistic theory was subsequently defended by Zeno and by Melissus, who lived in the mid-fifth century BC and was the last important member of the school.
