Laser printing is an electrostatic digital printing process that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics by passing a laser beam over a charged drum to define a differentially charged image. It employ a xerographic printing process.

· Electrostatic plotter use inkjet cartridges to print information onto paper, instead of using a pen to draw the required information like pen plotters, making electrostatic plotters a faster form of plotting.

As well, the quality of output is much richer than pen plotters, as they use ink to produce an output instead of standard pen ink.

Commercially, the uses for a electrostatic plotter are also far more viable than using a pen plotter. For example, creating a large poster would require both high quality and a small lead time (time between printing initiation and outputting result). A pen plotter can achieve both objectives, but electrostatic plotters can achieve them faster and with more quality, making them ideal for commercial printing.
