Accounting Dictionary:

Eliminations

Accounting entries used when preparing Consolidated Financial Statements between a Parent Company and a Subsidiary Company. Examples of eliminations are the elimination of intercompany profit, receivables, payables, sales, and purchases. Thus the consolidated entity reports financial statement figures applicable to outsider transactions. Where many eliminations are involved, an eliminations ledger may be used. Eliminations are also involved in preparing combining financial statements. See also Consolidation.
