Equinophobia

Equinophobia or hippophobia is a psychological fear of horses, derived from the Phobos for fear and Equus for horse.

Sufferers of Equinophobia usually experience an anxiety of approaching horses.

Equinophobics usually begin such feelings at a young age, either:

• Falling off a horse while riding
• Being bitten by a horse at a young age
• Meeting a horse for the first time that turns out to be aggressive^{[citation needed]}

An example of the phobia can be found in Freud's psychoanalytic study of Little Hans.
