EDTA stands for EthyleneDiamineTetraAcetic acid (the capitalization doesn't really belong there, it's just to show where the abbreviation comes from). It's generally made from ethylenediamine, formaldehyde, and sodium cyanide. though it can also be prepared from ethylenediamine and chloroacetic acid. If you regard any of those as "kitchen ingredients" remind me never to eat at your house.
