There are around 700 types of Eucalyptus. The tallest grow in Victoria and Tasmania in the southeast of Australia, and are Eucalyptus regnans, the Mountain Ash. This species is the tallest flowering plant in the world and possible the tallest of all plants. Mountain ash can exceed 300 feet in the wild.

Regnans in Excelsis was created in 1570.

Ipe in the Amazon, the Rain Forest can reach 40 ft in five years. Some trees have made it to 45 m. The tallest tree ever was 138 metres tall (mountain-ash, Eucalyptus regnans, not an oak) in Australia. So not quite.
