(b Tortosa, 19 Feb 1841; d Barcelona, 19 Aug 1922). Spanish composer and musicologist. Though devoted originally to composition - he regarded his masterpiece as the Wagnerian trilogy Los Pirineos (1890-91) - he worked increasingly as a writer and editor. His publications include the complete works of Victoria, a biographical series on Catalan musicians, a dictionary of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American musicians and a critical reassessment of Spanish popular song. The creator of modern Spanish musicology, he contributed greatly to the revival of interest in church music in Spain.

Felip Pedrell (19 February 1841, Tortosa – 19 August 1922, Barcelona), was a Spanish Catalan composer. He worked as a musicologist and early music specialist and edited Victoria’s opera omnia. This and other of his writings fostered a keen interest in the early music of Spain.
