Jingo, a comedic novel by Terry Pratchett, is part of the
Discworld series. In it, a volcanic eruption has created a new
island exactly halfway between the cities of Ankh-Morpork and
Al-Khali. Because of its strategic value, both cities begin
preparations for war. During this time, Sam Vimes investigates the
attempted assassination of an Al-Khali prince, which he believes
was caused by persons hoping to provoke open bloodshed. Jingo is a
satire of war and nationalism, and its plot was inspired by the
real-life conflict over Ferdinandea.
