flat back

A postural defect in which there is little or no lumbar curve. The lumbar region of the back is flat and the pelvis is pointed backward. It is usually associated with kyphosis. It may be corrected by strengthening the back extensors (erector spinae), the gluteus maximus, and the abdominals, and by improving the flexibility of the hamstrings.
