The city of Miami, Florida was originally founded on July 28,
1896. It has become a well known tourist location because of the
subtropical climate that provides year round sunshine. It features
more than 15 miles of beaches, over 800 parks, and is a popular
place for tennis, golf, and water sports of all kinds. There are
also more than 450 hotels and resorts, which provide accommodations
for tourist who come to check out the many attractions that the
city has to offer including their three sports teams, baseball's
Florida Marlins, football's Miami Dolphins, and basketball's Miami
Heat.
The Art Deco district in Miami Beach features the largest
collection of Art Deco architecture in the entire world. It is also
known as the Wreckreational Diving Capital of the world, as there
are more than 50 wreckage sites featuring sunken ships, planes, and
tanks that are used to attract a variety of marine life for those
who are interested in recreational diving.
As a home to animals from all parts of the world, the Miami
Metrozoo is one of the most popular attractions in Miami. The zoo
also features a carousel, informative lectures from zookeepers,
wildlife shows, and a behind the scenes tram tour. To see even more
amazing animals, you can visit Jungle Island. This location
features multiple species of fish, birds, reptiles, and primates,
as well as colorful tropical flora and fauna, a waterslide, and a
beach. Miami's Seaquarium was the location used to film the TV show
Flipper, and is also a popular tourist attraction. At this location
children and adults can enjoy swimming with the dolphins, which is
an activity you won't want to miss.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is also a popular hot spot in the
city, which has been called the Hearst Castle of the East. This
structure was originally built in 1916 and features art objects,
impressive furnishings, and intricate architectural details. The
Miami Holocaust Memorial is another attraction which many tourists
come here to visit. A couple of the main attractions here are The
Sculpture of Love and Anguish and The Arbor of History, which
provides a Holocaust timeline embedded in black granite.
When touring Miami, you won't want to miss the Coral Gables
Venetian Pool. Designed in 1923, this location is surrounded by
amazing Venetian architecture and includes an island, waterfalls,
caves, and grottos. They offer swimming lessons at the pool and
there is also a cafe located here.
