Igor Sikorsky . The first helicopter was the Focke-Wulf FW 61 in 1936. Heinrich Focke and Gerd Achgelis were the creators. Full scale design and production did not occur, however, until Igor Sikorsky got involved in 1942.

The first real helicopter flight was made by Hanna Reitsch in a
Focke-Achgelis near Berlin around 1937. Consistent and accurate
Allied bombing missions destroyed this helicopters production lines
so it never got into real development.
