Fred Dekker

Fred Dekker is the writer and director of the Cult classic films Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad (written with Shane Black). He contributed the story ideas for both House (1986) and Richochet (1991). He also directed and wrote Robocop 3 (co-written with Frank Miller). Mr. Dekker was born on April 9th, 1959 in San Francisco, CA.

Night of the Creeps has yet to be released on Region 1 DVD (except for some pirated copies). In an interview with Movies Made Easy (a part of simplycinema.blogspot.com) on June 20th, 2005, Mr. Dekker expressed interest in contributing to a Special Edition DVD release. Per that same interview, Mr. Dekker is currently working on a, "scary, end-of-the-world thriller."

  • One of Mr. Dekker's first hired jobs in Hollywood was to write a 3-D Godzilla movie that was never made.
  • There are two known endings for Night of the Creeps.
  • All three of Dekker's films feature a food establishment named "Phil's".
  • During the sequence of J.C.'s demise in Night of the Creeps, graffiti is briefly visible on the bathroom wall which reads, "Go, Monster Squad!"
  • Liam Neeson read for the part of Dracula, but was ultimately given to Duncan Regehr.
