Future Movement (Arabic: تيار المستقبل, Tayyar Al Mustaqbal) (FM) is a Lebanese political movement, led by MP Saad Hariri, the younger son of the assassinated former Prime Minister of Lebanon, Rafik Hariri.

The movement is the largest member of the March 14 Alliance, which won a majority of the seats in the May 2005 parliamentary elections.

The Party was officially founded in August 2007, yet it was only declared on April 5th, 2009 in a convention held at the BIEL convention center in Beirut.

Purpose

The objectives of the Assembly are political, cultural, and social that emerge from its declared political "Program of the homeland" and from the principles of national values and humanity it contains.

- Embodies the charter of co-existence that was consented by the Lebanese as their constitution, and adopts the preface of the Constitution in word and deed, and seeks to achieve its principles, and declare its faith:

1 - Freedom, sovereignty and independence of Lebanon, definitive entity and unity of the nation's for its people as well its institutions on its territories within the recognized borders, in the Arabism of Lebanon, in its identity and affiliation, and his commitment to Arab and international charters, and in embodying the state for these principles, without exception.

2 - The parliamentary democratic system based on respect for public freedoms, foremost among which is freedom of opinion and belief, on social justice and equality in rights and duties among all citizens without distinction or preference.

3 - That the people are the source of authorities and sovereignty which they exercise through the constitutional institutions based on the principle of separation of powers and its balance and cooperation, and in the individual initiative and the private ownership and distribution of national wealth based on the balanced development of regions culturally, socially and economically as an essential element of unity and stability of the system from within the liberal economical free system.

4 - Abolish sectarianism and spread political unity on Lebanon's territory and the right of every Lebanese to live in any part of it under the rule of law and to strictly refuse sorting out its people, the division and settlement.

To this end, The Future Movement seeks to:

1 - work on the consolidation of democracy based on respect for public freedoms and equality in rights and duties between citizens of one country. 2 - Consolidate the development of national integration as well the sense of national, regional and social sense of the Lebanese. 3 - Establishing a state adhering to the rule of law and institutions and raise the level of social security and health for the Lebanese citizens 4 - support the Lebanese youth and enhance its role in community development and participation in political life. 5 - Ensuring harmony between religion and state in defending the values of faith and true values of a united Republic 6 - Lebanon's obligations to respect Arab and international legality and adherence to international law in particular human rights, women and children, freedom of faith, knowledge and belief and the right to live as free decent human. 7 - The defence of the free economic system and individual initiative in the promotion of the dignity of the citizen and well-being and social justice. 8 - Providing universal education to its citizens and promoting economic, social and political emancipation. Politics

Most of the support for the Movement of the Future comes from Sunni Muslims and it is part of March 14 Alliance that includes, amongst many groups, the mainly Druze Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) Party, and the Christians associated with the Lebanese Forces and Kataeb parties (main 3 allies of FM).

The main opponent of Future Movement is the March 8 Alliance, most important parts being Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) led by General Michel Aoun and the Shia Hezbollah and Amal Movements.

Media

The future Movement has an important media presence in Lebanon and internationally. Media outlets expressing the Movement's views include Future Television, Future News, Radio Orient and Al-Mustaqbal daily newspaper.

Future News

Future News was launched in the year 2007, a 24-hour news channel that supports the Future Movement's and March 14 Alliance's views.

Radio Orient (Lebanon) Radio Station

Rafik Hariri, former assassinated leader of the Future Movement, launched in the year 1995 a radio station targeted to Lebanon and the whole world that supports the Future Movement's and March 14 Alliance views.

The station is better known by its Arabic name إذاعة الشرق.

It is broadcast on 88.3 MHz and 88.7 MHz on the FM mainly in Arabic, with some hours in English and French,
