1810Brief Account. White is believed to be the first African American to write the story of his own enslavement.
1919Scandals of 1919. The dancer and theatrical producer mounts the first of thirteen revues (the last in 1939) that feature scores by George Gershwin and introduce African American dance steps such as the Charleston and the Black Bottom to white audiences.
