A leading Italian automobile body stylist company founded by Giacinto Ghia in Turin in 1915, the Carozzeria Ghia was known for classic designs such as the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia (1955), car bodies for Chrysler and luxury models, such as the Maserati Ghibli (1968). Giorgetto Giugaro had become a director at Ghia in 1965 but the company was bought by the American manufacturer Ford in 1972, resulting in designs for the Ford Capri Ghia (1974) and Escort Mark II (1975).See also Karmann, Wilhelm.
