Dictionary of Dance:

Giuseppina Bozzacchi

Bozzacchi, Giuseppina (b Milan, 23 Nov. 1853, d Paris, 23 Nov. 1870). Italian dancer. Her impressive career was one of the shortest on record. After training with the Milan prima ballerina Amina Boschetti, she studied with Mme Dominique in Paris. Her claim to fame is the fact that she created Swanilda in the first production of Coppélia in Paris in 1870. She danced the role eighteen times before contracting a fever. She died on her seventeenth birthday.
