Hall-of-Famers Elvin Hayes and Tom Seaver both celebrate birthdays today. Basketball star Hayes (60), called "the Big E," was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1990, having played in 12 straight NBA All-Star Games from 1969-1980. He was chosen to be on the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1996. Baseball great Tom Seaver (61), nicknamed "Tom Terrific," was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992. The pitcher most associated with the Mets, Seaver also won three Cy Young Awards.
