Hans Georg Nägeli

(b Wetzikon, 26 May 1773; d Zürich, 26 Dec 1836). Swiss composer,music publisher and educationist. He founded the first music lending library in Switzerland and as a publisher issued first editions of piano works by Beethoven, Clementi and Cramer as well as music by Bach and Handel. He also lectured and wrote essays (many on aesthetics) and compiled a singing tutor. His compositions are chiefly choral music and songs.
