Rothe, Hans (Meißen, 1894-1978, Florence), worked as a dramatic adviser (Dramaturg) during the 1920s, first in Leipzig and then under Max Reinhardt at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. In 1934 he emigrated to the USA, settling later in Florence. He is the author of plays, including Wen die Götter verderben wollen (1939) and Sainte Eugénie (1944), of radio plays (Verwehte Spuren, 1935, and Die Vitrine, 1964), and of the novels Ankunft bei Nacht and Beweise das Gegenteil (both 1949).
