There are only three heirs apparent at the moment, the line of succession is currently as follows: .
- Charles (heir apparent)
- William (heir apparent)
- George (heir apparent)
- Charlotte (heir presumptive)
- Harry (heir presumptive)
Charles, William and George are all heirs apparent because their position in the line of succession cannot be displaced or changed by a person with a better claim.
However, Charlotte's succession can be displaced when George has children, therefore she is heir presumptive, not heir apparent. Likewise, Harry is currently fifth in line but he can be displaced if William has any more children or when George or Charlotte have children, therefore he is also heir presumptive.
