Heliography is the photographic process invented by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce around 1822, which he used to make the earliest known surviving photograph from nature, View from the Window at Le Gras (1826 or 1827). There is no such thing as a Heliographic alphabet.

The captain of the ship used the heliographic light to signal the people in the sailboat.

Nicéphore Niépce is credited with making the first permanent photographic image in 1826. Other permanent images were created earlier than this, but they were not truly of a photographic nature. They related more so to photo etching (heliographic process).
