Hellanīcus

 

Hellanīcus of Mitylene in Lesbos, a Greek logographer of the fifth century BC. He was a prolific writer, of whose books some fragments survive. His most important works were a History of Attica (see ATTHIS), a list of the priestesses of Hera at Argos, which he used as a chronological basis for his history, and a list of victors at the Carnea.
