Hemangiopericytoma

(medicine) A tumor composed of endothelium-lined tubes or cords of cells surrounded by spherical cells with supporting reticulin network.

A vascular tumor composed of pericytes.

A rare vascular, usually benign neoplasm composed of round and spindle cells presumably derived from pericytes.

A tumor composed of spindle cells with a rich vascular network, which apparently arises from pericytes. See also schwannoma.

A hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is a type of soft tissue sarcoma that originates in the pericytes in the walls of capillaries.

It was characterized in 1942.^[1][2]

Treatment

Depending of the grade of the sarcoma, it is treated with surgery,^[3] chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
